Follow the link below to learn about one of America’s greatest painters. Georgia O’Keeffe has been an inspiration to me and to countless other artists for many years. My husband took me to see her paintings at the Milwaukee Art Museum a few years back when we were dating. I still remember how breathtaking it was to see them in person. Her approach to painting flowers is fascinating and so groundbreaking for her time period.

I have a new project that I’m starting today! It’s not a pencil portrait so that has me a little nervous, since portraits are what I’m so used to doing lately. But it’s good to get out of the normal routine, right?
For anyone trying to make a living as an artist, the most important thing to do is to always accept any task asked of you. Sure, it can be downright SCARY! It can seem like the worst thing in the world sometimes when you’re at the point of no return wondering if you can make it. There have been plenty of times (my husband certainly knows) when I’ve freaked out and I’ve regreted agreeing to some artistic endeavor or another. But in the end, it has ALWAYS worked out. And the thing is, I’m sooooo glad in the end that I took on the challenge. You never know what you are capable of if you don’t give it your all till the very end. Even if things don’t go PERFECTLY, you always end up learning something you otherwise wouldn’t have. This goes for artists, musicians, writers, students, and just about anyone trying to achieve a goal.
With that said, I guess I should be starting my latest project: painting a seven limbed oak tree on 20in x 22in canvass to be used by a friend as a family tree. Let the designing and sketching begin!!!
